The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam has once again ordered low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific to change the trademarks and logos used on its advertising material no later than June.

The administration has warned Jetstar Pacific Airlines several times against using the “Jet” logo and a star image, saying these trademarks could cause customers to confuse the Vietnamese airline with Australian carrier Jetstar Airways.

The carrier, however, has not complied, local news website VnExpress reported Thursday, citing an official of the aviation administration.

For now Jetstar is only required to remove its trademarks from its advertising material. It will be asked to repaint its aircraft later, the official said. “We want to support businesses. So we can’t ask Jetstar Pacific to paint their aircraft white while waiting for new trademarks.”

The airline, though, has not announced any plan to change its trademarks, VnExpress said Thursday.

Local carrier Pacific Airlines was renamed Jetstar Pacific Airlines in May 2008 under a branding agreement with Jetstar Airways, which is a subsidiary of Australia-based Qantas Airlines.

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam last month officially banned all local carriers from using brands and logos of foreign airlines for their services.
